Behn.jpg

With over a decade on the New York jazz scene, vibraphonist Behn Gillece has built a reputation as a virtuosic instrumentalist and prolific composer. With inspiration from such legends as Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson, Gillece, throughout his career, has committed himself to advancing the art form of the vibraphone while flourishing as a jazz composer. A New Jersey native, Gillece had many early performance opportunities in his home state, as well as Philadelphia, before moving to New York City in 2006. Since then, he has made quite a name for himself as a sought after sideman, as well as a bandleader and recording artist.

His most recent release, "Between The Bars" (2023, Posi-Tone), showcases Gillece's perpetual musical, technical, and spiritual growth. Collaborating with a core group consisting of pianist and keyboardist Art Hirahara, bassist Peter Slavov, and drummer Vinnie Sperrazza, Gillece crafts a sound that's both resonant and adventurous. The album is enriched by the vibrant contributions of three horn players: Patrick Cornelius, playing alto and soprano saxophones along with bass clarinet; Diego Rivera on tenor saxophone; and Altin Sencalar on trombone, all of whom add unique hues and dimensions to the compositions.

Pianist and composer Charu Suri treads fearlessly between genres, pulling global influences that range from the mood-anchoring Indian ragas, Sufi music, to the trio.

Listen to her ground-breaking work in jazz that blends the East and West in this performance, along with Sufi singer Falsa, drummer Jay O'Brien, and bassist Justin Lee. Charu's work has won several awards, and she is one of the few female composers from India to perform work at Carnegie Hall,

What started purely as an experiment with her "Book of Ragas" has turned into a niche that she is now increasingly becoming known for. Her latest album is RAGAS & WALTZES, a first collaboration between her and Preservation Hall's jazz drummer, Joe Lastie. Follow her on Spotify and on Instagram/Twitter at @charusurimusic and Facebook @charusuritrio.

A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe... all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD - TYA is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).  All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com.
